About Sioban

I began working with dogs more than 33 years ago, drawn to their intelligence, sensitivity, and willingness to bond with and work with people.

Over time, that interest grew into a deep commitment. I trained and competed extensively in obedience trials throughout Northern California for more than 15 years with the American Kennel Club

and the Australian Shepherd Club of America, eventually titling through Utility, the highest level of obedience competition.

Being invited to compete in the Gaines’ Classic National Obedience Championship was a meaningful milestone, but more importantly, those years taught me about patience, consistency, and the relationship between dog and handler.

Through decades of living and working with dogs, I have come to appreciate how deeply they respond to clarity and fairness. Dogs thrive when they understand what is expected of them: when they feel secure in that understanding, their confidence and stability naturally grow. This understanding developed through experience: raising my own dogs, training, competing, and helping others navigate both the joys and challenges of living with dogs.

For the past 26 years, I have worked professionally with dogs and their owners. My motivation has remained rooted in the same place: helping dogs live calmly and successfully alongside the people who care about them. I have worked with dogs at many stages of development, from young dogs just beginning to learn to those preparing for performance or working roles, to dogs struggling with fear, anxiety, or behavioral challenges. Each dog brings its own temperament and history, and I value the process of understanding who they are and what they need to feel secure and engaged.

Some of my most meaningful experiences have come from rehabilitating dogs who had experienced severe neglect, deprivation, and abuse. Earning the trust of a dog that has learned to expect the worst from the world is a quiet and gradual process. Watching those dogs begin to relax, gain confidence, and eventually live as secure and content companions has reinforced my belief in the importance of patience, structure, and guidance. As both a trainer and a parent, I understand how important it is to live with a dog who brings calm and reliability to everyday life.

My work has always been guided by a simple principle: when dogs are given clear guidance and fair structure, they can relax, trust, and become steady, confident companions. Helping dogs and their owners reach mutual understanding and respect is the most meaningful part of my work.
